In Remembrance of the First Abbot—Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin, Busa Wangdue Goenpa Dorling Dhensa 多傑林巴
Today, on this auspicious Full Moon, the 15th day of the 2nd month in the Bhutanese calendar, 2025, we observe the mahaparinirvana of Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin, the founding father of Busa Wangdue Goenpa.
The following day-long puja was conducted in his loving memory to pay our homage:
Lama Kadu (bla ma bka' 'dus)—Treasure Teaching revealed by Terchen Dorje Lingpa. The ༼གསོལ་འདེབས་ལེའུ་བདུན་མ༽—Le'u Dünma ~ The Prayer in Seven Chapters to Padmakara, The Second Buddha—མགོན་པོ་གནམ་ལྕགས་སྤུ་གྲི - a prayer composed by His Holiness The 65th Je Khenpo is Yeshey Singye.
We honoured and paid our respects to our founding father on this momentous and historic day in commemoration of his significant legacies.
May the Buddha Dharma and, in particular, the supreme Terchen Dorje Lingpa lineage never diminish!

Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin, the First Busa Trulku, is the great-grandfather of the current 11th Busa Trulku.
Born in 1586 in Dangchu, he is regarded as the reincarnation of Togden Choying Rangdrol, the principal disciple of Terchen Dorje Lingpa.
Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin began his Buddhist education at the age of seven and became proficient in all aspects of Buddhism.
Following the guidance of his master, Ngawang Tsulthrim Rinpoche, and inspired by a vision, Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin explored the Sey Phur (Sephu) region to look for a suitable site to construct Gonpa.
His initial choice was Langbi, followed by Zargang in Busa. However, the guardian deity Yeshi Gonpo, who appeared to him in the form of a raven, indicated that these sites were unsuitable for the gonpa.
Upon reaching the current location, the raven vanished, leading him to believe it was the perfect spot for the establishment of the Gonpa. Consequently, he settled there and named it Busa Wangdue Gonpa.
Tsungmed Tashi Tenzin had significant followers, including his brother, Drubthob Ugyen Dorji.
Before his passing, he entrusted his brother Drubthob Ugyen Dorji with the responsibility of preserving his lineage, which has then continued through to the current 11th Busa Trulku, His Eminence Khentruel Sonam Gyeltshen.
