Terney Gyel Pheling Monastery and Retreat Centre

Terney Gyelpheling, known as the second ‘Tsari Ney’ in Tibet, is one of the sacred places sanctified and blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, the lotus-born or second Buddha. Tshulthrim Pelbar founded it in the late 17th century.

The holy location is encircled by three magnificent hills, each with its own unique importance. There is a Thro Norbu (dharma contained in a cave called Norbu) within the sacred area, a cave from which holy water oozes naturally on the day of Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana.

A footprint, a hand print, and a body print of Guru Rinpoche, as well as the body of Bja Tshering (a long-life bird), are visible against the rocky cliff in the shape of a garuda bird named Drakkhading.
A holy spring revealed by a garuda bird flows from the sacred bagha (female genital) of Khandro Dorje Phagmo. These Locations are like the resurrecting medicine.
The body print of Jetsun Milarepa and the self-arisen phrase “HUNG” are two additionally sights nearby. The primary sacred items at the monastery are a statue of Guru Rinpoche and his manifestations, which is believed to have discoursed, Dorje Phagmo, Gormo, the protector deity, an Avalokiteshvara with a thousand hands and eyes, and Phurpai Lhatshog.

Busa Trulku Rinpoche rebuilt the dilapidated monastery with the primary support of the Taiwan Dorje Lingpa Buddhist Centre, under the leadership of Mrs. Sherry Lin, and other overseas supporters.
Ternye Gyel Pheling Monastery is the foundation’s planned meditation centre, where monks from Busa Wangdue Gonpa Buddhist College will be spending three years retreating and meditating in order to further spread Dharma, particularly the Dorje Lingpa practises, in order to benefit more sentient beings.
Terney Gyel Pheling Monastery began teaching third-year primary school monks/students in the 2021 academic year. And now there are eight monks studying at Terney Gyel Pheling, led by Lam Dorji Gyeltshen as Uzin (principal) and Lopen Pemba Dorje as Lopen (teacher).
